About Us

The Uniqueness of Our Clinic

In a word, integration. Through this website you can find various topics on techniques we pioneered, and what problems we can work with. However, the most important aspect of our caregiving is in integration, which happens on multiple levels. It starts with just being willing to take the time to listen, not just to what the chief complaint is, but also how it interrelates with the other parts of your body and your life.

Integration is a goal and a treatment strategy for treating your complaint in the context of you as a whole person. To an extent, a fair amount of physical maladies start with the loss of integration and coordination of function. Our doctors know how to bypass the cognitive parts of the brain to work with the other parts of the brain that regulate, integrate and coordinate multiple functions. We do this through body language instead of verbal communication. This can be done across different fields of function, including muscular coordination, digestion and metabolism, acupuncture and related magnetic fields, and others.

There is also integration in the doctor-patient relationship. This occurs in terms of putting caring into caregiving, as well as acknowledging that although we are experts in terms of body function, our patients are experts in what their bodies feel. Therefore, the treatment approach becomes collaborative instead of “top down.” We welcome you to our office!

Dr. Colleen Barry, DC, CSCS

Dr. Colleen Barry has been helping people who are passionate about fitness stay active and healthy, for the past two decades. Dr. Barry is a lifetime athlete herself who has built a career on helping active people stay active.

As a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Fitness Trainer, Dr. Barry spent years training college athletes and active people of all ages. But when it came to solving the most common complaints from her clients who either couldn’t move in ways they once could or had nagging, persistent pain, she wanted to be able to do more. Building on her expertise in fitness and training, Dr. Barry earned her degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minnesota and opened her chiropractic health care practice in May 2012.

Dr. Barry credits her personal experience with chiropractic care as a key turning point for improving her own health. Growing up as a multi-sport athlete in Nebraska, she experienced debilitating back pain during a high school basketball practice and requested to see a chiropractor. After just a few treatments, she realized that chiropractic care was not only helping, but also giving her an understanding of how the body works while providing effective tools for improving in sports, overcoming aches and injuries, and staying well overall. This knowledge had a lasting, positive impact on her approach to health.

Dr. Barry went on to obtain a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO), and stayed there as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist for athletes and sports clinic attendees. A few years later, she opened her personal training business and used her knowledge to help a broader group of people. Her experience working with athletes and active people of all ages, plus a natural propensity to seek information and find answers for healing the body naturally, led her to become a chiropractor.

Dr. Barry is passionate about putting her patients “in the know” and helping them work on their health daily. “Life is the greatest sport of all,” said Dr. Barry. “When you’re conscious of how you treat your body, give it what it needs to perform optimally and heal problems naturally, you will have the energy and stamina to participate fully in all aspects of your life.”

To stay active and healthy herself, Dr. Barry loves playing hockey, weightlifting, running, biking and walking with her black Lab, Duncan. She also enjoys dining on local, organic cuisine at Twin Cities eateries.
