Nutrition and Herbs as Natural Medicine

Nutritional, herbal supplementation and dietary recommendations can be powerful tools in helping patients overcome debilitating conditions that have often lasted for decades. Often the underlying cause of a patient’s condition is either a subclinical infection or toxicity. This approach is often extremely effective with people who have had little to no luck with other approaches to their condition. Our doctors have helped patients with everything from
fibromyalgia to hormonal issues, insomnia to brain fog.

SUBCLINICAL INFECTIONS.
To address subclinical infections, we use muscle testing as a biofeedback tool. Our doctors look for a physiological response (the muscle weakening temporarily) when the body is safely exposed to a causative element. We can then work to find a treatment option that will strengthen the body and address the condition affecting the patient’s health. We find this personalized approach much more effective and powerful than traditional medicine’s approach to testing through one-size-fits-all lab tests.

TOXICITY ISSUES.
Our doctors also work extensively to address toxicity issues in our patients. We are all exposed to a wide range of toxins on a daily basis as we live our lives. From air and water pollution to pesticides and household cleaning agents, toxins are rampant. When the body is unable to cleanse itself entirely of these toxins it stores them in the tissues especially fat cells. Even worse, pathogens can lock them into a thin “biofilm”. These biofilms are colonies of microbes that fight off the body’s defenses and create a myriad of symptoms. At our clinic, we use supplements to address these issues through your digestive system.

ALLERGIES AND AUTOIMMUNITY.
Allergies and autoimmune conditions are health issues that are the result of immune system overreaction. These conditions often “blossom” when your immune system is degraded from physical and emotional stress or toxins you ingest. Our doctors work with patients to develop a treatment program that either desensitizes them to the allergies they suffer from, or to help retrain their bodies to not react to their own tissues. We balance the immune system through needleless acupuncture (magnetic biofeedback) and through nutritional supplementation and dietary recommendation. The herbs and supplements we use are from nationally-recognized companies that engage in rigorous testing and have decades of experience.

Acute and Chronic Pain

Although acute pain often starts with an injury or at least a recent onset, underlying factors have often been building up leading to the injury or pain. So too with chronic pain, underlying factors are the key to sustained relief. Of course the area of pain needs to be addressed first, but that is not where the treatment process should end. Our doctors go on to look at other areas of the body that contribute to the dysfunction of the area of pain. We have techniques that allow us to connect the dots from one part of the body to another in order to create integrated function without which the patient is prone to reinjury or reoccurrence of their pain.

These techniques include craniosacral release, dural adjusting of the spine, sequential muscle testing, needleless acupuncture (a.k.a. magnetic  biofeedback), myofascial release, and line pattern exercises (which retrains coordination patterns). Learn more about these techniques in the “Our Services” section.

Maximizing Function and Movement

Whether a person is seeking help for a sports injury or wants to achieve higher performance in their everyday activity, applied kinesiology is a form of chiropractic that works extremely well. Some of the techniques pioneered at Tree of Life Chiropractic work quite effectively for the joints, muscles and function of the limbs. Our doctors know how to not only treat the injured area, but to reestablish integration and coordination of movement so that you can perform at your best without reinjury. We can also help you fine tune specific movements that you are seeking to improve.

You don’t have to be an athlete to have a problem with one of your limbs. The knowledge that we apply to athletes is also useful for us to treat everyone’s chronic pain, arthritis and degenerative joint issues.

Techniques that work extremely well include line pattern exercises, sequential muscle testing, craniosacral release, dural manipulation, and myofascial release. Learn more about these techniques in the “Our Services” section. Ask us how we may help you with your situation.

Arthritis

Arthritis is often a catch-all diagnosis. It is too frequently blamed for a lot of pain a doctor doesn’t know how to treat. Repeatedly our doctors at Tree of Life Chiropractic have created pain relief for people who are told that they have “bone on bone.” Of course, some people simply do need a joint replacement. However, we have maintained some patients for twenty years after they were told they needed a hip replacement. We know of multiple instances where patients talked about a sore finger or thumb or elbow and got quick relief, after having lived with it for years.

Many of our patients who have been told they have “bone on bone” achieved sustained relief after a course of treatment. Of course, you don’t have to get to that “bone on bone” state before getting relief. In fact, your joints will last longer and take less treatment if you get it treated sooner. The reason we have success with arthritis where other doctors do not is because of our integrated approach that works with alignment, strength, coordination and metabolism to provide pain relief as well as sustained balance of function.

Body-Mind-Stress Relief

Science has proven that the physical response to stress is based on the sum total of all the stresses the person is experiencing, including emotional, physical and spiritual. This stress can lead to physiologic burnout. Sometimes patients need physical help with their physical bodies, even if the origin of the stress was not physiologic. Patients  experiencing burnout need herbs and vitamins that balance their hormonal functions so that they can produce in the daytime and sleep at night.

Furthermore, emotional stresses are stored in the physical body and need to be released physically as well as emotionally for the body to heal. Most counselors know how to talk through the emotional stresses but are not so good at releasing the physical imprint of that stress. Our doctors know how to release the physical imprint that too often holds an emotional pattern in place. We do not take the place of psychologists or other counselors, but instead prefer to work with them to create an integrated healing.

Fatigue

There are many, many causes for fatigue. It is different from one person to the other. For one person it may be hormonal, for another it might be  undetected low grade infections, for someone else it may be lack of a nutrient. It is important for the practitioner to be knowledgeable and aware of the possibility that a single patient can be suffering from multiple causes. For this reason our doctors will start with a broad net of  possibilities and then narrow it down in order to find the cause or causes. Similarly, our doctors can take multiple approaches to finding these causes, including muscle testing, lab testing, and good old fashioned listening.

A treatment must also be tailored to the individual so that the treatment regimen takes into consideration what the patient can and cannot do or tolerate. Ask us how we may help you with your situation.
